The Broken Doll

She sits on the wooden shelf

An unwelcome grin etched on to her face

As the people around her

Mill around the house

Go about their day

And pay her no attention.

She waits

Patiently with her stiff limbs

Hoping all day

Today’s the day

When they come home

They’ll pick me up off of the shelf

And play with me.

The hour arrives,

The family trudges in

One

By

One

And they begin to mill around the house

And go about the rest of their day

Without a glance at the shelf

Where the doll sits by herself

Waiting for love.

The Danger of Falling in Love

Fingers laced

Hearts paced

About to kiss, my mind slips

My heart skips

As the truth nears

And all my fears disappear

When you pull me back

To the reality I lack

As your thumb traces my chin

I can’t help but grin as you pull me in

I admit defeat and our lips meet.

The magical sensation

Of instant gratification.

I must have hit my head falling for you

In this world that is brand new.

Re-Introduction

He saw her, the great white buffalo,

The only woman who had escaped Bill’s

Grasp. When she left, he had become defunct.

Seeing her again was like witnessing a child who

Was unaware of their surroundings, but used

Their childhood to

Their full advantage. A ride

That would end a

Lot faster than the watersmooth-silver

Of the moon on the horizon, or a lone stallion

Finding a new herd and

Feeling alive once more. Her eyes break

Away from his… onetwothreefourfive

Seconds before she realizes its him. Pigeonsjustlikethat,

She thinks as she moves toward him. As he stares at her dumbfounded. Jesus,

What was she about to do?

He

Was

A

Handsome

Man

But she had known men like him before and

They had never been what

She expected. “I

just want…”

I don’t know what to

Do, she shakes her head, I don’t know

“All I know is

Right now is the only thing we have for sure. How

Do we proceed?” He stares at her a minute more. “Do

You know how long I’ve waited for you?

How long I’ve waited for you to look at me like

You never wanted to lose me again? Gazing at me with your

Gorgeous blueeyed

Soul.” It was true, he was now a man that had developed from a boy.

He had grown, he was mature. “I’ll be your Mister”

He grins and thinks, ’til death.

Dancing on the Edge

Standing on the balcony ledge,

You surprise me with a kiss.

This is where we begin to dance on the edge

Because if you leave, everything about you I will miss.

Like the way you catch my eye

And tell me you love me

In such ways that make me sigh

And hope forever yours I’ll be.

Or the way you laugh at things I say

And how you make sure I’m comfortable when we lie

Side by side while our elbows touch.

The only thing I need to know

Is exactly how much

You love me and when it will show.

But all we have is now-

As the curtains are closing, we take our bow.

Siren

Flowing red hair

Catching light

Catching fire

Long wavy tendrils

Caressing her body

Like the desire of your hands.

You hear her-

Her voice a cage

Surrounding you

Holding you captive

As you listen to the tune in her voice

Your ankles are shackled

The hum in her throat

Your hands are bound.

She sings her song

And your soul is hers.

I Shall Follow

Walking miles in their shoes-

No shoes…

Soleless Souls

Traversing treacherous terrains.

No haven in view,

But we keep walking-

I keep walking

Despite blisters brimming with blood.

Regardless of where you’re heading

I shall follow.
