Owl

An owl

Flies upwind

To catch the elusive

Ocean on it’s strong wings

Where nothing but a ghost

Of salt from the waves will remain.

Day 20 of NaPoWriMo. I fell a little bit behind this weekend, but I’m going to continue with the challenge because I enjoy the prompts. I made it 19 consecutive days in NaPoWriMo!

Like a Boeing

Broken bones and body

Along with a soul

All much too old

For the vessel

That holds them.

F-22

Streamlined like a Boeing

With no engine.

Stone Floor Stoned

Crawl down to the floor
And lie bare

For men will come growling frighteningly-
One comes carrying fur
For the raid, or a scary sound.

(Once, I dealt hell-
Problems rose anew and growing-
No dreams of diamonds for me).

The duty is mine and mine alone
(With or without you)
I may sing as I run for the harbor.

Many tongues are slammed…
And many of his men owe a dozen
For drinking her foolish.

My home, a martyr.
Many yell for it, many chant
‘Til the festival charade grows

The fairground militia
Will carry attention and law
While guests will fall clutching a cigarette.

Dreaming of Reality

If you dream a dream of laughter

With heavy giggles falling from the sky

You will wake from bed soon after

Where peacefully sleeping bodies will lie.

If you dream a dream full of tears

Spilling from your eyes like blood from a wound

You will wake alone with your fears

Forever by yourself, forever doomed.

Bloodnofsky’s Revenge

With my double barreled gun
I rule
Killing as I please
Or deem necessary.
Don’t underestimate
The power that I hold
For soon the streets will run red
With the blood of my foes.

Things Unsaid

There are many things I’d like to say to you

The fact that I was lying

To your face

For the majority of my life

That I loved you

And hated you

Equally and simultaneously

That I wished you were more

Than the man you thought you were

And would become the man you always dreamed of

And I want to

Be honest with you

For the first time in my life

Tell you that I care

About every hurtful word

You threw my way

And I would

Change the past

To change the future

And make the present right

But I can’t

Because

You’re

Not

Here.

True Love

I love you

Like a dog loves a flea-

Nibbling and scratching

Until my skin is barren and red.

I need you

Like a thorn in my foot

Deeper with every step

And increasingly painful.

I want you

Like a hypochondriac with an illness

Obsessing about the next symptom

Until my terminal demise.

Dirty Suits

I wrote a story

Of a man named Steve

Stuck in the past,

Stuck in love

With a girl named Marie.

He couldn’t save her

For nobody could,

Marie was bold

And Marie did what she would.

Marie fell in with a crowd of sorts

That robbed and killed for “the greater good”

Steve, the cop, said “Darling, please don’t.

You’re better than them.

I need you, don’t go!”

But Marie was in deep

And she was the seductress,

The key.

Steve followed her there,

On the dark musky night

Pulled up in his car

Armed with hat, suit, and gun.

Waited, and waited,

Until he saw someone.

“Sweetest Marie”

He mumbled with a sigh

And opened the door.

But alas, that poor chap,

He was too late to save her.

Marie was grabbed by the thief

With a gun jabbed against her jaw

Steve dropped his morals with his gun

For he couldn’t believe what he saw.

This man, so mad

Was willing to kill her,

But behind him, his leader

Rang out with a clatter

A bullet, a bang,

And shot right through them both.

Marie fell to the ground

On top of the man

Both bleeding, and stammering

Feigning perfect health.

“Marie!” Steve cried

And ran to his lady

Stroking her fair hair

Until the moment she passed.

“Who did this?! You monster!”

Steve shouted

When he saw some suits

Running down the street.

He chased them

And shot a few warning bullets

Until one landed on the back of the biggest suit himself.

He stumbled and fell

As Steve finally caught him

And saw his Sheriff’s face staring back

With his last final breaths

He muttered

“Stop looking, you fool.

This was the plan.

Marie was a distraction,

But she messed up and fell in love.”

Haunted by this mystery,

What was Steve to do?

He would never stop searching

Until he found out the truth.

Marie, my sweet love,

I’m still looking, for you.

Trapped

“Oh, hello, dear” with a bite

Caught off guard, I slip, I fall

This alligator, such a fright

I brace myself for the oncoming brawl

I think to myself I’ll stand, I’ll fight!

But the trip took it’s toll and I must crawl.

She catches me, my ankle, with her teeth

And envelopes it in a sharp pearl sheath.

Valediction of a Chapter In Life

Gone are the days of independence

traded for housework

And new life goals

Of creating a family

And earning success.

No more immature debauchery,

Finished with pearls,

Longer hemlines

And modest necklines.

I miss the days

Of reckless fun,

But I’ve moved up

And on

And traded it for self love

And you.
