Sea Foam Bubbles

Pants rolled up and pushed up

Struggling to hold their place around my knees

As we walked side by side

With sand seeping through the holes between our toes

And you looked at me with a smile in your eyes

And shook your head at my childish play-

Feeling at home for the first time in years

I ran out into the ocean but it wanted to keep me there-

The salt clinging to my jeans

Made my body heavy in the frigid water

As you watched me, you in the sand still smiling

And I struggling to get back to you;

Until the ocean sent a wave that carried me back to shore

And chased me away from its edge

Leaving nothing but a trace of the sea foam bubbles at my heels

And you.

A Year In Review

There were times both happy and sad

Sometimes we were even mad

But you were always by my side

Buckling me in for the long ride.

We took a trip just you and I

With views that made me weep and sigh

And filled my heart with memories

As we looked out over the cold dark seas

Wondering about all the things to come

Leading us back to where we came from.

Then we hit a downward slope

I didn’t know how we could cope

I suffered through pain and being ill

But this year will be better still.

Dinner

With my heart beating a bass line

And my fingers searching for your own

Meeting in the middle of the table,

A hand-made centerpiece

We think back to earlier days-

Laughing at our happiest moments

Crying at our most defining;

But it seems the memory that we’re making

Is one of our finest ones yet.

Falling

Sitting on a dock dividing two oceans-

Dividing lust from love.

You stand and are about to jump in

But I can’t see where you’re headed.

With your words and your actions saying different things.

It’s hard for me to gauge where I stand.

I stand next to you to see

But subconsciously you push me in

And before I know it-

I’m

Falling

                 In

      Love.

You And I

What else is there for me to say?

You and I love much the same way

You’ll love me past when my hair turns gray

And I’ll love you until our very last day.

With all the fights that we’ll keep at bay

I’ll look at you, and I’ll think and I’ll pray

That nothing will change as we lay

And we will always be happy and gay.

Life Lessons

Bring me life

I’ll take away your pain

If you forget about our strife

And think of all you have to gain

As you watch days go by

Looking at a mirrored self

You say with a sigh

That life is more than wealth

And that when I grew older

If I remember this, I’ll see

Instead of getting colder

In winter I’ll have someone loving me.

Smile

Lips parted
Giving way to
Perfected pearly whites
And spewing sarcasm
Mixed with honesty.
The upturned corners
Of your mouth
Show me the truth
Behind your emotions-
In this case
Good.
A mixture of
Happiness
Relief
Excitement
Contentedness
On your face for display
For all to see
And to cherish.
