Copper

A penny for my thoughts?

Give me a pen and a paper

And I’ll take you on a journey

Past the contrasting black ink

On the white-as-snow page

And show you the mechanics

Of my brain. Here my thoughts

Are carried away on

Post-it notes of their own

Until they’re pieced together

Like separate pieces of the same puzzle,

A bigger idea made from

Several smaller ones

Placed out for very few to read.

Give me a penny, if you wish,

But I guarantee

It’s more than what you bargained for.

Lovely Lady

You may be beautiful,

But what more do you have?

With looks, but no money?

I’ll pay you for your worth.

Some coins for your teeth

Royal with their pearly crowns.

A dozen dollars for your hair

Locks of their own without being captured by keys.

I gave you freedom from your looks

In exchange for a human toy.

Yes, you’re a lovely lady, doll.

The Way We Talk

Words taking flight

On a trip, traveling up my throat

Flitting across my tongue

And playing at the tip

Where they brush past my lips

And escape.

But what happens

When there are no words?

A different form of communication

Evolves without trying.

Your lips on mine-

The pressure, lingering, intensity

All signs that show me

What you want, need, desire.

A secret code, no-

A secret passed

From one pair of lips to another

A conversation that lasts a lifetime.

This language is our own.

The End of Days

Raise your hand to the sky

With liquid as red as life

Pulsing in the shattered glass.

Make a toast to the Gods

To bring you serenity

As you sacrifice your soul for pleasure.

Say goodbye to your lover

As the knife pierces your skin

And the blood flows eternally

Until the end of days.

Puzzles

As we stand in a room of puzzles
No puzzle more intricate than us

With your eyes trained on me
Searching for a reaction
But what am I supposed to do?
You always had a way
To make my knees weak with lust
You always had a way
But what am I supposed to do?
Searching for a reaction
With your eyes trained on me

No puzzle more intricate than us
As we stand in a room of puzzles.

Trapped

Death is but an absence

Of the mind’s activity

While held in captivity

Of the depreciating body

That it used to control.

Are You the One for Me?

Would you-

Follow me to the end of the Earth

Where no one else will know our names?

Listen to my every word

And hold on to it like a cherished friend?

Join me for my smallest whims

Even if they require more than they’re worth?

Hold my hand through thick and thin

And be there for me when I fall?

Trust in me and believe

I would never lead you astray.

Help me act out my hopes and dreams

And celebrate our success.

Love me like there’s no tomorrow

And hope today never ends.

But even if you would,

Would I do the same for you?

Farewell to a Friend

I bid adieu

To the friend I once knew

With a swift “Adios!”

And a glamorous toast.

I’ll wave and say “ciao”

Without knowing how

To say our final goodbye

Without a good cry.

So let’s make this fast

Held with memories that last

And say our concluding farewell

Before my eyes begin to swell.

Demise

I see a girl with emerald eyes

That glisten and ensnare

The world with it’s skies

Without the slightest care,

Free from what’s soon to destroy her.

I see a girl with eyes so cool

For they’ve seen the world fall

To armies so cruel

That they’ll take it all

Away for the chance to entrap her.

I see you with your eyes cast down

A single glance and I peruse

A distinctly permanent frown

From the emotional abuse

That you let yourself go through.

Tell Me That You Love Me

Tell me that you love me

I want to hear you say the words,

but also feel them so I know it’s real

and not just my deepest desires. I want

your words to feel so heavy that they create

fire from the friction of being rubbed against

your tongue. I want your eyes to show so

much passion that they make me feel

your arms grasped tightly around

me with just one look. I want

you to make me feel like

there’s nobody else in

the world meant for

you as much as I

am. All it takes is

three heavily

weighted

words.

I love

you.
