A Sailor’s Love Affair (A Sea Shanty)

Tell your lady that the sea is your mistress

Tell your lady that the sea is your mistress

Tell your lady that the sea is your mistress

The sea, she is your home.

Tell your lady that you’ll see her ‘morrow

Tell your lady that you’ll see her ‘morrow

Tell your lady that you’ll see her ‘morrow

The sea, she is your home.

Hoist up the sails and take her sailing

Hoist up the sails and take her sailing

Hoist up the sails and take her sailing

The sea, she is your home.

Drink some rum and praise her glory

Drink some rum and praise her glory

Drink some rum and praise her glory

The sea, she is your home.

Land, ahoy! Sweet dusk is setting

Land, ahoy! Sweet dusk is setting

Land, ahoy! Sweet dusk is setting

The sea, she is your home.

Calls thy name; the sea, she calls you

Calls thy name; the sea, she calls you

Calls thy name; the sea, she calls you

The sea, she is your home.

  1. Of course you’d make it look easy! XD I tried my hand at writing a sea shanty, and failed horribly. Some of us are made to listen to music rather than write it. Great job!

  2. What a good idea! Writing a sea shanty to fit a sea shanty! I must have a go. Thanks for popping in to visit http://ja2da.com – not sure if the English was up to standard.

PS don’t forget I’m English so I don’t speak it as well as you Americans do
    PPS where’s the OC?

      1. Ahh. Right! – Thanks for bringing an ignorant foreigner into the real world.

PS I forgot to mention that I loved some of your poems – though not all. When you get my age you can afford to be picky.

      2. No problem at all! Different tastes are to be expected and appreciated. It’s what makes the world go ’round 😉
