Deserted

Forced on an island

With no resources

Except my laptop

And the power of my will.

I plan

I learn

I teach

I scream…

I am alone

Despite being connected

Constant Contact

Back and forth

With no resolution.

Deserted, abandoned

My body

My hope

My will to continue this game.

Embrace my absence

As I embark on my own journey

Leaving this island behind

You will never see me again.

Ocean Waves, Part 2

Our visit was brief

But necessary.

It was good to

Get back to my roots-

Seeing you

Brought back so many memories.

Hearing you call out to me

Made me feel like a toddler

Stumbling over their feet

When they’re learning to walk,

But trusting

That you’ll be there

To catch them

When they fall.

Thank you for reminding me

Of who I am-

The strength I was born with.

Our bittersweet goodbyes

Will not last forever.

I leave,

Walking away

With sand trailing behind me,

But turn back

For one last glance.

Just in time

To watch you wave.

Warmth

You are irresistible with

Those thoughtful eyes

That shadowed smile

And the way you say

“I love you.”

A treat.

Comfort.

I’m drinking you in

Like a warm mug

Of lightly sweetened tea

On a cold winter day.

Cuddle up with me

Like a weighted blanket.

Warm my body

My mind

And my soul.
