Apple Seeds

Festering, growing

Sheltered from the world

Until bitten, cored

And ripped from their homes.

They fall like bombs

Cascading from the sky

Where they land

With an inaudible explosion.

They are crushed

Swept away and forgotten

Or buried to give new life.

Despise Me

I know now

That I’m the one to blame

For all of the misunderstandings

And creating a rift

That kept growing

Until it was so large

That both of us collapsed in its depths.

I know now

That my actions are irreparable

In your eyes

But that won’t stop me

From trying to say sorry

From trying to sew up the wounds

That are evident all over my body

And have yet to scar.

I know now

That it takes two people

To make a heart break

And also two people

To put the pieces back together.

I also know

That you will never forgive me

That you’ll go on with your life

And I’ll go on with mine

Wondering

Do you ever think of me?

Are you happy with the way your life turned out?

Are you happy without me?

For the simple reason

That you despise me so much

To the extent of withholding yourself

Of the apology you deserve.

What It Takes To Be Me

A mother who cares a little longer

A father who has grown up stronger

A brother who’s learned right from wrong

A lover with whom I know I belong

All of these added to my life’s shelf

Plus me, so I can be myself.

Life Lessons

Bring me life

I’ll take away your pain

If you forget about our strife

And think of all you have to gain

As you watch days go by

Looking at a mirrored self

You say with a sigh

That life is more than wealth

And that when I grew older

If I remember this, I’ll see

Instead of getting colder

In winter I’ll have someone loving me.

Feline

Eyes as green as

The hungry grass

That sways from the rhythm

Of the summer breeze.

Long hair flowing

And sometimes peeking out

From ever-conscious ears.

A look of curiosity

Plays on her face

And kisses her nose

As she almost smirks.

Green eyes peering

At green eyes that belong to me.

We are different,

But we are one.
